    1. Number of employees

      Researcher: 1 persons

    2. Recruitment theme

Theme: Study on improvement of fragility evaluation method of a reactor building using three-dimensional model
JAEA is promoting the project titled “Improvement of assessment method for seismic safety of buildings, equipment, and structures considering aging effects," commissioned by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority for disaster prevention measures in nuclear facilities.
To improve the accuracy of the fragility assessment of nuclear facilities from the probabilistic risk assessment pertaining to earthquakes (seismic PRA), we are working to establish the construction method of a three-dimensional model of the reactor building, followed by the development of a fragility evaluation method using the three-dimensional model.
In this research, the quantitative assessment of epistemic uncertainty in fragility evaluation and the identification of cliff edges where the local damages of the building lead to equipment damages or dysfunctions is performed using the three-dimensional model. The latter is expected to accurately obtain the building response, and the results are reflected in the fragility evaluation.
