Research Theme:
Study on biomonitoring method for airborne particulate matters containing radioactive caesium in living sphere in Fukushima.
(Summary)
People are concerned about airborne particulate matters containing radioactive caesium blown up or resuspended in the living sphere of the area where the evacuation was lifted. Therefore, it is desired to establish widely and easily applicable monitoring methods for such particulate matters. A biomonitoring method by means of cloned mosses is cheap and easy to apply anywhere, and has been used for monitoring air pollution. However, issues to be resolved have still remained for applying to monitor airborne radioactive particulate matter. In this research theme, for the purpose of establishing cheap and easy biomonitoring method for the particulate matter containing radioactive caesium by means of mosses and others, the research subjects of this researcher are expected as follows; (1) selecting the species for monitoring airborne particulate matters in the atmosphere, (2) developing methods for cloning or culturing the selected species, (3) designing and setting up the monitoring system, (4) developing methods to observe and analyze the captured particulate matters by means of electron microscope methods and others, and (5) considering how to apply the results to evaluate exposed dose.
