Research Theme:
Development of computer technologies for exascale CFD simulations in nuclear engineering
(Summary)
Simulations of multi-scale and multi-physics complex fluids, which take account of phase change, physical property change, and chemical reactions, are needed for addressing critical issues such as thermal-hydraulic analysis of complex phenomena in the reactor core at severe accidents, and analysis of environmental dynamics of radioactive substance. In order to apply such complex fluid analysis to real problems, exascale computation based on the state-of-the-art accelerators is required. In this subject, computer technologies relevant for such exascale CFD simulations will be developed. Examples of specific research topics are as follows.
