    2. Recruitment Field

Research and Development on Accelerator-driven Nuclear Transmutation System (ADS)
      (Summary)
J-PARC Center is conducting R&D for the development of accelerator-driven nuclear transmutation systems (ADS). In the R&D on the liquid lead-bismuth target for ADS, we are studying thermal hydraulics properties and materials corrosion behavior with using liquid lead-bismuth test loops, and also developing sensors dedicated to lead-bismuth such as flow meters and oxygen concentration sensors. In the R&D on the proton beam technology, we are studying nuclear reaction cross section with using the J-PARC’s GeV-energy proton beam, and also developing high-intensity proton beam monitors and superconducting accelerators for ADS. In this theme, the researcher will study on one of these topics according to the researcher’s specialty.

(This R&D will be implemented under the grant for “R&D on nuclear transmutation system with using a proton beam for reduction of radioactive waste” of the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology - Japan))
