Research and Development on Accelerator-driven Nuclear Transmutation System (ADS)
(Summary)
J-PARC Center is conducting R&D on Accelerator-Driven nuclear transmutation System (ADS) which is one of new nuclear systems for reducing environmental burden of long-lived radioactive waste. As for the liquid lead-bismuth target technology for ADS, thermal-hydraulics study and materials corrosion tests with using liquid lead-bismuth circulation loops, and development of various sensors specific to liquid lead-bismuth are being conducted. As for the proton beam technology, measurement of nuclear reaction cross section data and development of proton beam diagnosis technology are being conducted with using the J-PARC's GeV-energy proton beams. In this theme, the researcher will study on one of these topics according to the researcher’s specialty.

Commensurate salary with the applicant’s work experience, Social Insurance, Commutation allowance, Institute family residence and bachelor’s dormitory are available.
Terms of employment
Contract term: One year
(The contract term can be extended up to five years upon annual review of research achievements.)
Should you achieve outstanding results during your temporary employment, you could be offered a position as permanent Staff.

Qualification requirements
(1) Having a Ph.D. degree. In principle, work experience as a postdoctoral fellow (at least for one year) is required.
(2) Preferably having experience in research and development in the fields of thermal-hydraulics, materials development or radiation measurement

Points to note
(1) Applicants who pass the document examination are supposed to submit medical certificate taken within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).
(2) Candidates without Japanese Nationality are required to have the certificate of eligibility by the date of adoption in order to obtain a work permit in Japan.
