Theme: “Neutron Studies of characterization of fuel cell and lithium-ion battery”
A collaborative research project with Toyota Central R&D Labs to improve performance of important components of fuel cell and lithium-ion battery using pulsed neutron techniques has been launched from 2019 at the Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) of J-PARC. We call for a special topic researcher to conduct this project. The research theme for the researcher to be employed is structural study of catalyst layer of fuel cell and internal water dynamics by means of neutron experiments of small angle scattering, reflectometry and quasi-elastic scattering. The related development of new characterization methods using pulsed neutrons is also involved.

Qualification requirements
Candidates are expected to be young scientist, who must have a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment and be within 8 years of receiving their PhD, and must have eager and ability to promote the research on electrification components on their own initiative. It is desirable that the ones have knowledge on material science and experience with neutron or synchrotron X-ray experiments.
Terms of employment
(1) Salary: Approximately JY400,000 per month(including social insurance fee and tax)
(2) Allowance: Commutation and housing allowances are paid according to employees.
(3) Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.
(4) Intermission: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
(5) Holiday: Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), national holidays, year-end holidays, paid holidays.
(6) Social Insurance, etc.: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, corporate pension fund, employment insurance, workers accident compensation insurance.
(7) Welfare: Family resident and dormitory are available.

Document examination

We will cover your travel expenses in Japan for the recruitment examination in accordance with JAEA travel allowance regulations.

Points to note
(1) It is noted that Employees will be a radiation worker with utilizing neutron and x-ray.
(2) Applicants who pass the document examination are supposed to submit medical certification.
(3) Required status of residence is needed for applicants without Japanese nationality by the date of adoption in order to work in JAEA, in Japan.
(4) In the annual meeting of neutron applications for industries which will be held on 14-15 July, there are presentations (in Japanese) for the latest achievements of this collaborative research project between J-PARC and Toyota Central R&D Labs.
