Recruitment theme
Theme: Advanced research on long-term stability of geological environment
This research theme aims to develop elemental techniques for precise estimation of short- and long-term geomorphic/geologic histories, including the processes, patterns and rates, based on approaches of Quaternary research, geomorphology, geology, geochronology, geochemistry and geophysics.
This research theme is carried out as part of projects funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). This recruitment assumes that METI entrusts the project to JAEA.

Qualification requirements
(1) Candidates must have a doctoral degree and must have research careers as a researcher more than 1 year.
(2) Having work experience on research and assessment related to any of Quaternary science, geomorphology, geology, geochronology or geochemistry (especially dating of sediments using radiometric dating methods (especially luminescence dating method)).

(1) Salary:Annual salary system based on the applicant’s work experience and JAEA’s administrative rules, Commutation allowance, Housing allowance

(4) Working Hours:8:30-17:00
(5) Break Time:12:00-13:00
(6) Holidays:Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), National holidays, Year-end and new-year holidays, Annual paid leave, Special Leave, etc.

Contract term (tentatively)
From April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023
(The contract term can be extended up to March 31, 2027 upon annual review of research achievements and upon the funding)

Points to note
(1) The candidate who passes the recruitment examination is required to submit medical certification written in English taken within 6 months (including height, weight, eyesight, urinalysis, chest X-ray).
(2) Candidates without Japanese nationality are required to have the certificate of eligibility by the date of adoption in order to obtain a work permit in Japan.
