2. Research Field / Topics
(1) Field: Materials Science, Liquid, Glass, Synchrotron Science, Neutron Science
(2) Research Topics:
"Combined Neutron and Synchrotron Radiation Study of Structurally Disordered Materials under High Pressure"
Pressure-induced changes in structurally disordered materials such as liquids and glasses now attract wide attention because recent studies have revealed a variety of unexpected phenomena such as a first-order transition. A high pressure beamline now under construction in MLF/J-PARC, a new spallation neutron source in Japan, will open new opportunity for such studies. You will be involved in development of methods for in-situ neutron and x-ray measurements under high pressure and/or development of combined structural modeling using neutron and x-ray data.
The research program will be supported by a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas "Earth Science Based on High Pressure and Temperature Neutron Experiments" of The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan, starting from 2008.
