Recruiment for Special Promotional Topics Staff
Feb. 1, 2010
1. Available Positions
3
2. Research Field / Topics
(1) Field: Synchrotron Science, Solid state physics, Materials Science
(2) Research Topics:
“Research on local electronic- and vibrational- states of hydrogen storage materials”
The element-specific magnetic properties, bonding states, and hydrogen distributions of hydrogen storage materials are studied by using the local Mössbauer analysis method and nuclear resonant inelastic scattering spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation. Moreover, by developing a metal hydrogen reactor system with the local Mössbauer analysis method using synchrotron radiation, the in-situ metal hydrogenation reaction is studied.
”Structural study on metal hydride under high pressure.”
Several metals exhibit characteristic changes such as metal-insulator transitions and structural transitions upon hydrogenation. Through synchrotron and neutron diffraction experiments on these metal hydrides under high pressure, novel structural transitions will be explored and transition mechanism due to contraction of hydrogen-hydrogen distance will be investigated.
”Study on structural changes in hydrogenation and dehydrogenation processes.”
By developing time resolved synchrotron x-ray diffraction measurements, structural changes accompaning hydrogenation and dehydrogenation processes of materials will be studied.
One or two research topics from the above three topics will be selected for each successful candidate according to his/her wish and aptitude.
The research program will be conducted under the NEDO’s project of ‘Advanced Study of Hydrogen Storage Materials" starting from August, 2007.
