An International Energy Research and Development Base

The Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has located the Tsuruga Head Office in Tsuruga city where Fugen and Monju are sited. We are promoting R & D for the practical use of Fast Breeder Reactors, centered on our Monju reactor and for Reactor Decommissioning, centered on our Fugen reactor. We are aiming to establish an International Energy R & D base whilst promoting symbiosis with the local area through for example technology exchange, which will promote development of the regional economy.

Additionally, we will advance this enterprise with safety as our first principle, maintaining reliability with transparency and contributing to the welfare of human society.

We are proud to be the leader of nuclear development in Japan and give safety assurance our highest priority whilst promoting our business with vigor and creativity.
