Regarding the organization of research and development
仕切り画像

As for the contents of the technology development of decommissioning in Fugen, "Fugen Decommissioning Technology Expert Committee", which consisted of outside experts, was established in December 1999. And this committee has discussed about the policy and general task of the technology development.
Specific technical cooperation with domestic and international research institute (not only JAEA) is advanced to implement economical and rational decommissioning in Fugen and to reflect the decommissioning results.
The cooperation is enhanced according to its partner and technical contents to provide some opportunities (such as information exchange, collaborative research, collaborative development, contract research and technology development).

Organization of the technology development of Fugen Decommissioning

The following technical cooperation is specifically being carried out.

Name of organization Content of the technical cooperation
1 NUPEC:
Nuclear Power Engineering
JNES:
Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization
To cooperatively advance a study aimed at "Fugen" about technology of the environmental effect evaluation in the reactor dismantlement.
2 RANDEC:
Radioactive Waste Management and Nuclear Decommissioning Technology Center
To advance the research and development of the decommissioning of nuclear facilities in national commission, and pursue the projects (e.g. preparation of the site for waste treatment and disposal of RI facilities and institutes, etc.) under Isotope association.
3 OECD/NEA:
Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development/Nuclear Energy Agency
In October, 2000, Fugen joined the decommissioning cooperation project (was concluded in 1985) under OECD/NEA. The effective decommissioning technologies of each country can be exchanged at the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and site research, etc.
4 The Research Institute for Energy and Nuclear Technology in Norway (Halden reactor project) To develop and spread the dismantling simulation system, which utilizes Virtual Reality (VR) technology as a part of system engineering technology in technical cooperation to plan the rational dismantlement project.
